In the past, contact lenses were simply another form of necessity, an aid to those with vision deficiencies. It was typically viewed as a replacement for the eyeglasses. Nowadays, not only are they a fashion statement, they are also accessories in their own right. In fact, there are even glow in the dark contacts now. Now, just in case you were wondering, no, they don’t necessarily have to be green. They are luminous too and their designs are anything but ordinary. In fact, they are akin to designer contact lenses. It is pretty interesting to note, though, that there are still many who have not heard of it yet.
If you take the time to browse through websites offering glow in the dark contacts, you may be amazed at the variety of designs that they offer. There are those that mimic the eye designs of popular movie characters. There are those that are designed to cover the whole eye with an iris in the middle, bounded by colorful designs on the side. However, beautiful as they may be, it seems that they cannot be sold unless the customer has an active prescription. Of course, glow in the dark contacts are non-prescription themselves but having an active prescription would also ensure that you are actually fit to wear contact lenses.
The question is what makes them glow? Supposedly, they work like any other glow in the dark material, they need to be charged under sunlight. However, direct exposure may not be recommended because of possible damage.

If you’re looking for an awesome addition to a costume, or if your looking for a simple easy way to WOW your friends then glow in the dark contact lenses is exactly what you need. They are an awesome way to make a statement about yourself and you can where them with anything you want.
If you have an active prescription for contacts, you may be able to get corrective glow in the dark contact lenses from a few places online, depending on the corrective power required for your eyes. Or if they are simply for costume you can pick them up from most local novelty shops. If you are like me and have terrible vision, then glow in the dark contacts are still just as awesome behind your usual prescription glasses.
Glow in the dark contact lenses do not glow in absolute dark. But they will glow in almost all clubs and night spots which usually have plenty of black lighting.
Caring for glowing contacts is as simple as regular contacts. Get an all-purpose contact solution and a contact case. Simply rinse them before you put them in your eyes and after you take them out again. I recommend “Bausch & Lomb ReNu No-Rub” solution or “Express No-Rub” solution.

One awesome and easy way to save money on your lenses is by looking online for discount contact lenses. They are really all over the place. I know someone who bought contacts on line and actually saved almost 50% by sending in the rebate. It really is the best way to go. But don’t be lazy about it. They are really not that difficult to get. Usually you can get discount contact lenses rebates with just a simple form you have to fill out with minimal information and send out in the mail. So often people are too lazy or just plain forget to do them and it is such a waste. Vision correction is already such a costly hassle, so there’s no reason to add to the financial burden.
The best way to find discount contact lenses is online because there are so many offers out there , and you’re not limited to your local area. Not to mention that you can get a better deal online to begin with.
So remember to always check around for rebates before you purchase contacts from anywhere. It could save you a lot of money, and it is definitely worth the effort to fill out some basic information.

Coloured contact lenses have really become popular since the early ’90’s. They can be found pretty much everywhere now and they are uses for many different applications.
Cosmetic Use
Many People you see on a daily basis are using coloured contact lenses for cosmetic purposes. Now they can be made with a wide range of corrective powers or with no prescription at all. Just recently they have developed the technology for coloured contact lenses to correct astigmatism so just about anyone can order coloured contacts in their prescription. Using these coloured contact lenses you can change your eye color to whatever you’d like, and the best part is that it’s not permanent. If you ever decide you want to change colours it will only cost about $30-$40.
Costume Use
Coloured contact lenses can really add the perfect finishing touch to a costume. Since you can et any colour you could imagine and also hundreds of crazy designs like cat eyes or flames, they can work with any costume you’d like.If you really want to freak your friends out you can even get some glow in the dark contacts.
Theatrical Use
Many film and play directors make use of coloured contact lenses for their works. They are a quick and easy way to add special effect scenes to a movie that used to take CGI work.

A lot of people looking for new contacts or that just got a new prescription are wondering whether ot buy contacts on line or in person. For me it’s a no brainer. Buying contacts in peron you are going to spend a good bit more money as well as more time. Whereas if you get your contacts on line, you can easily browse through prices and get a super good deal since there is so much online competition. Another thing to think about is that contacts aren’t exactly like glasses where you have to get certain measurements right to fit your ears and nose just right. There is a basic measurement you use when getting contacts and when you get your prescription, your eye doctor measures that for you. So ordering your contacts on line is a breeze. Especially if you are looking for cosmetic contacts you should look online because it opens up your selection to literally thousands of different options. You can get just about any color imagineable.

Tinted contacts aare like the equivalent of sunglasses. They are tinted to block the sunlight and stop it from blinding you while outside. They also have uvprotection like sunblock to protect your eyes. They are great for sports and make driving a lot easier. If you’ve ever had a sunburn on your back then try imagining sunburnt eyes. It’s pretty painfull and it happens all the time. Spending time on the lake or at the beach is even worse on the eyes since the uv rays reflect off the water. I strongly recommend getting some tinted contacts if you regularly participate in outdoorsy activities to avoid the burn and protect your eyes.
Did you know that the sun can even cause permanent damage to your eyes and severely harm your vision? It’s definitely worth the money to get a pair of tinted contacts if you’re exposed to the suns harmful rays for long periods of time.
The best part is that they come in different colors so you can even be stylish. Thjey tend to darken your eye color a bit but you still have a pretty wide range of colors to choose from. Just go to a few online stores to check out how they look and how much they cost.

The selections these days on cosmetic colored contacts is tremendous.
Blue, gray, hazel, green, black, brown, purple are just a few of the colors on the market available online and also through your local optometrists. Cosmetic colored contacts offer instant drama to the way your face looks and they really make a difference. The instant and noticeable effect is a great party idea. Match a costume or accentuate a costume with any color of choice! Or pick a couple of colors out to add a cool change day-to-day. For those with dark eye hues that can’t achieve the lighter colors, there are other options. There are pattern contact lenses that have designs which show up on dark eye colors. There is a solution offered by cosmetic colored contacts for every eye!
As opposed to corrective contact lenses, a new wearer should not have any problems wearing cosmetic colored contacts, they don’t have to be prescribed to be worn. Which means they don’t come with the hassle or restrictions and extra precautions… or the big prescription cost.
But normal precautions such as, washing hands before and after use, and cleaning with contact cleaning solution should still be taken. Wearing cosmetic colored contacts can still dry out your eyes or cause irritation. But eye relief contact solution should cover the these normal irritations.
If you’re really adventurous… check out my last post on glow in the dark contacts!

Cosmetic contacts are great for making a subtle change to your appearance or a bold statement without spending a lot of money. It is quick and temporary. You can put them in and take them out as often as you like.
Colored cosmetic contacts are subtle. You can order most colored contacts in your prescription depending on how strong it is. They can run from $40 to $50 a pair on average and there are some sites that will even let you try a trial pair for free.
If you are a bit more bold and are looking to make a bright statement about yourself, you may be interested in some more unique contact designs. You can find cosmetic contacts with pretty much any design you can think of. From four leaf clovers to hot rod flames, from cat eyes to gator eyes. Online stores all over the web specialize in these types of special cosmetic contacts.
Always remember to take care of your contacts whether they are prescription or not because otherwise your contacts can get very uncomfortable. It’s simple and quick to take good care of your cosmetic contacts. Get a contact case for just a couple of dollars and I recommend a “no rub” solution from Express. Simply rinse them of before and after you where them.

Chosing the right contact lense solutions is the first step toward a pleasant contact wearing experience. There are plenty of contact lense solutions out on the market right now. So many of you new contact wearers may be wondering which one is the best. Many people are unaware of the importance of buying the right solution for the contact lenses. But, the solution you use can make a huge difference in how comfortable your contacts are.
Don’t skimp a couple bucks to buy cheap contact lense solutions! For a good sized bottle of solution you may pay between $5 and $7 and it should last you at least a month. Using an off-brand is a bad idea because you never know what you’ll get. For something as important and low-cost as contact cleaner, I would recommend buying a brand that has already proven its self, even if it costs you $2 more per month. I have preached before that I prefer to buy a “no rub” solution that is produced by Renu or Express. This means truly that you don’t have to rub your contacts to clean them, but rather just rinse them with the solution before and after use. Rubbing soft lenses can cause tears if you’re too rough or just make it confusing to tell if they are the right side out. I have used both the “no rub” brands above and can attest that they work without having to rub. These contact lense solutions are also perfect for your contact case as you can leave it sit while you wear your contacts and come back to a nice clean case with no protein

Contact lense care is very important and often not taken as seriously as it should be. If contacts are cleaned regularly and maintained, then they are a great subtle form of vision correction. If contacts are not taken care of regularly, contacts will build up protiens that are potentially harmful to your eyes. Your eyes can suffer corneal scarring or other conditions if contact lense care is lacking.
There are a few things you can do to make contact lenses care easy and simple. First is to get a solution specifically for contacts (I strongly recommend a “no-rub” solution produced by Renu or Express). This alleviates much of the hassles usually involved with contact lense care. Next it is important to get a routine down. Always clean your contacts before you put them in and immediately after you remove them. This is super easy if you use one of the solutions I recommended. All you have to do is rinse them off. It is also important to clean your contact case every time you put your lenses away to avoid protein build-up. Do not use soap and water for cleaning your contact case. Most contact cases have a special coating that is non-abrasive to your contacts. Most soaps are “hard” on that coating and could potentially remove it.
Remember to make contact lense care a priority and it will make your contact wearing experience a pleasant one.

A Contact lenses cleaners is not the same thing as contact lense solutions. Solution is to keep them hydrated while they are not in your eyes while cleaners actually do more. They remove protein build-up and other minerals secreted by your eyes that could cause corneal scarring or otherwise harm your eyes. There are several “all in one” contact kits that have a contact lenses cleaner / solution in the same product. These are a great idea, but make sure you use a brand that is well known because if your contacts get to dry from the cleaner or if ti does not remove the mineral build-up enough then your contacts can get real uncomfortable real fast. Not all products clean the same. Some brands will leave your contact lenses cleaner than others and some will not get rid of certain minerals.
Certain people have different mineral content in there eyes and so it may be necessary to ask your optometrist to recommend a specific contact lense cleaner for your needs. See my post titled “Contact Lense Care” to get info on how to make your contact cleaning easier.
